WHAT IS FRICTION STIR WELDING (FSW)?
- PROCESS AND APPLICATIONS
Friction stir welding (FSW) is a new technology without welding joint. Stir welding has the advantages of high efficiency, environmental protection, and high quality, and is widely used in the manufacturing industry. The basic principle is to use a special shaped tool to rotate and stir between two metal materials without heating, and to connect them along the connecting line.
Friction stir welding is a technology that is very suitable for difficult welding materials such as aluminum alloy of all grades, whether cast, rolled or extruded. Compared with traditional brazing and arc welding methods, it is more stable and reliable.
The main application areas include aerospace, rail transit, military manufacturing, automotive manufacturing, electronics(like: EV battery trays) and other industries, suitable for semi-solid bonding of various alloy materials, and can weld structural parts with a thickness of 2mm to over 50mm. It has obvious advantages in improving product performance, saving raw materials, and reducing construction costs.
As an advanced technology gradually developed and widely used, friction stir welding has made an important contribution to the realization of high-quality, efficient, green and energy-saving production mode.
Detail Display
1, Product welding can reach over 70% of the base material
2. Solid phase welding, no cracks or pores, high air tightness
3.Friction stir welding is characterized by high energy density and fast heat input speed, so the welding deformation is small and the residual stress after welding is small
4. Welding equipment has strong wind power and precise fixture which lead to very high welding accuracy
Our welding Strength
1. No need to add welding wires, no need to remove the oxide film before welding when welding aluminum alloy, no need for protective gas, low cost
2.The microstructure of the welded joint in the Heat-affected zone with just a bit changes, the residual stress is relatively low, and the welding parts are not easy to deform.
3. Can weld materials which is sensitive to thermal cracking, be suitable for welding of dissimilar materials.
